Little People in the Kitchen

From a very young age, Eliana 8, our oldest begged for independence. She kind of reminds me of Matilda. Not the part where we are terrible parents … NO … she just likes to be very independent. Little Miss Independent.

My mom was amazed at how Eliana made herself understood when we ended up in the hospital with our 3 month old. Eliana was only 15 months old. She had her schedule memorized and it helped my mom a lot. She started talking at 5 months!

Eliana told her when it was time to eat, when it was time to watch her show, and what was next.

Before she was two years old, she was doing dishes. She would grab a stool, or ask for help to unfold the stool. She would stand at the sink and washed dishes. Of course, we still had to make sure they were washed well.

She was always helping in the kitchen. She even made her own youtube video on “Vegan and Gluten Free Rainbow Donuts”.

Time has passed and we have added more children.

We don’t push them but we definitely encourage them, especially when it is something that they are ready for.

Seeing tiny hands and feet in the kitchen is so fun! We just sit back and watch most of it. Casey loves the kitchen so he enjoys helping them when they need or ask for it. I just love capturing the moments.

Gavin goes into the fridge and takes all the veggies out and announces “I am making vegetables!” aka a salad. I don’t know what I did to deserve such wonderful little souls.

The best part is kids will eat what they create with their own little hands.
